THOMSON R&D France provides equipment and services for the image and entertainment industries. Thomson R&D France is one of the 7 research centres of the Thomson group. Within project framework, Thomson Corporate Research will develop technology for personalised advertising to mobiles terminals based on the DVB-H distribution network and 3G bidirectional interface within video on demand services such as PUSH VoD.

THOMSON Grass Valley France for many years it has developed digital network and also it has deployed IP and TV television service broadcasting platforms in many continents. Through this project, Thomson Grass Valley France wishes to expand its business model using local content insertion systems for mobile and residential applications with live or VOD / PUSH VOD services. For that Thomson Grass Valley France will use new innovative technologies to implement these targeted content insertion functions into production and distribution systems. Therefore Thomson Grass Valley France will be responsible of key task 6. Thomson Grass Valley France will also contribute within this project with its knowledge and experience in deploying IPTV and mobile TV service platforms and it will help to define and implement systems and technologies to enable users to receive advertisements best suited to their interests.

Orange France Telecom Group and its Orange Research Laboratories network have made major progress in terrestrial fixed and mobile digital television. That is prominent in the standardisation telecommunications committees and they take part in many European and French co-operation projects. The priority mission of the Rennes Orange research centre is to find the future path for the France Télécom Group in the audiovisual, rich media, virtual and augmented reality fields. They want to achieve the leading edge of international research into compression, audiovisual indexing and network 3D technologies (geo-visualisation, avatars). Orange research laboratory in Rennes design and develop distribution and security platforms for audiovisual fixed and mobile content. They increase their skills in digital television, protocols, storage platforms, quality of service (probes, dynamic network flow allocation), access control and digital rights management fields. In parallel, they has research centres to help and to develop open and secure operating environments (operating systems and middleware) for enabling the smooth integration of gateways and terminals, including PCs. They create and deploy rapidly new multimedia services for all Group customers. The expertise in Rennes research laboratory also extends to broadband deployment for radio access networks. The scope of application covers indoor or outdoor radio access, personal or business and private or state. This radio network expertise technology helps to meet requirements for the continuous increase of terminal data flow everywhere. The Rennes Centre is also involved in defining and providing audiovisual, photo and video services to improve customer relations. For that they analyse its perception to fine-tune solutions and they enhance new products derived from usages analysis, future services definitions and new value positions.

Streamezzo publishes software for mobile phones and concretely for all types of mobile terminals. It offers a comprehensive and friendly navigation system for rich media browsing. These systems are based on an innovative technology designed and developed by France Télécom Research and its research teams. Also they are used to browse and read streaming on mobile phones through interactive sites which composed of graphic animations with audio and video content. They offer to publishers and service operators; systems for managing the services and interactivity layer in broadcast or connected mode as well as combined mode. These systems are based on MPEG4 Part 20 (LASeR) for that this company plays an active role in the standardisation.

DIGIDIA is a Brittany SME whose main activity is developing, producing and selling digital broadcasting radio and television advertisements, and other multimedia products. More than 80% of DIGIDIA’s activities are export to international regions. DIGIDIA has more than ten years in the digital radio field experience and it is a high international provider for digital radio network systems. This systems accomplish following standards: DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) and DMB/DAB (Eureka 147). Also DIGIDIA is a member of international DRM and WorldDMB consortiums. DIGIDIA will contribute with its expertise and its savoir-faire in the digital radio and mobile TV field (T-DMB, DAB-IP) into the PUBIM@GE project.

TELECOM Bretagne - LUSSI (Usability, Social Sciences and IT studies), member of MARSOUIN. TELECOM Bretagne is a telecommunications engineering school for information technology with an international research centre. It has recognised skills in the digital communications field (definition of the first practical turbo-codes implementation) and in security networks with information systems (definition of security policies and intrusion detection applications). TELECOM Bretagne attaches great importance into human and social sciences research, which is undertaken by the LUSSI education and research department, a member of MARSOUIN. This department studies telecommunications and new media law, in particular the technology usages regulation. The TELECOM Bretagne contribution in PUBIM@GE project will be to analyse legal aspects and also they will simulate an advertising campaign thought a prototype implementation.

CNRS-IODE, the UMR 6262 unit was set up on 1 January 2000, bringing together of two centres: Rennes European Research Centre (CEDRE – Centre de Recherches Européennes de Rennes) and Western Legal Centre (C.R.J.O. – Centre Juridique de l'Ouest) and a private law agency. The unit has 18 teachers, 30 lecturers, 1 research officer at CNRS, 26 lawyers and 67 post-graduate students. Its aim is to continue the work in both centres, undertaking complementary research and encouraging joint projects while carrying out transverse research. The lines of research for the two units concern European law and human rights.The UMR unit of Rennes 1 University (Université de Rennes 1) and the French Scientific Research Centre(CNRS – Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) 6262 Western Institute: Law and Europe (IODE - Institut de l'Ouest: Droit et Europe) is managed by Sylvie Hennion-Moreau. There are currently 142 members represented on the management board.

It was the winner of the national competition for support to innovative companies (2005 emerging category) and provides creative broadcasting systems for cinema advertising in focus for advertising bodies and operators of cinemas equipped with digital projection equipment (D-Cinema). CinéAct has considerable expertise in radio advertising (15 years’ experience) and skills in the creation of advertising content and in web services architecture for advertising bodies.

ESC Rennes School of Business is an international management school. 80% of its staff were born outside France (16 nationalities are represented) and a third of students are non-French. The school’s research and PhD programme include the impact of new media on brand management. In particular it works on the impact of media on the quality perception of luxury products. The school has expertise in industrial innovation management and services as well as expertise related to advertising, marketing and measuring the impact on consumers. It also has the capacity to carry out empirical research internationally through its network of 130 partners throughout the world.
